Chinese American alt-rock is having a moment β and Mild Monk is living in it.
The Bay Area-based solo artist (who calls himself "the first alt Asian to solo a pop punk record") just announced his new single "Days of Black & White" drops Friday, June 13. The name matches the vibe: raw, handcut punk energy, a ransom-note aesthetic straight out of a bedroom studio.
This comes two days after he put out "Dream" on June 9 β two singles in one week.
Mild Monk blends alt-rock with J-rock and city pop influences, five albums deep with self-releases. His catalog includes Comets (5th album) and a string of singles that have earned him 31K followers on Instagram.
